Kilcock (Cill Choca in Irish) is a town in the north of County Kildare, Ireland, on the border with County Meath.
Kilcock takes its name from the 6th century Saint Coca who founded a church beside the river Rye, and who is traditionally said to have been a sister of St. Kevin of Glendalough; by occupation she was an embroiderer of church vestments, including those for St. Colmcille.

 Brief History of Kilcock, County Kildare, Ireland
St Coca was an early Christian missionary and she founded the first Church in Kilcock circa 550 A.D. The Church was built on high ground on the southern bank of the Rye Water River close to a well of pagan religious significance.
In the 15th century Kilcock once again became a frontier town as it was situated on the boundary of the Pale.
In the mid 1900's a recession caused by the demised of the Canal, the ending of the Fair and the closing of the Railway station led to a decline in the importance of Kilcock as a commercial centre.

KILCOCK Celtic overcame the elements and the setback of conceding an early goal to go on to defeat a gallant Hanover Harps from the Carlow League Premier Division in an excellent FAI cup-tie at Scoil Dara on Sunday.
However, Kilcock began to find their rhythm and in the eighth minute they were again unlucky when Fergus Dunne carved open the Hanover defence and rifled in a shot, which was brilliantly parried by keeper David Corcoran.
Kilcock’s equaliser, which came in the 55th minute, was straight out of the coaching manual.

It was far from a one-man show, however, as the Kilcock forwards can be mightily pleased with the fact that all of their scores came from play.

Progressive Democrats Senator Kate Walsh is seeking to have the current bus service to Kilcock extended to better meet the demands of commuters in the North Kildare town.
Senator Walsh says the Saturday Kilcock service is also very poor, with one bus leaving for the city centre early in the morning, and another mid-afternoon, with no service in between.
Senator Walsh says the existing service provided by Dublin Bus does not take account of the growth in Kilcock's population over the last number of years, and the rise in the number of housing estates where many householders commute to Dublin to work.

Residents opposed to the construction of a waste incinerator near Kilcock in County Kildare have welcomed An Bórd Pleanála's decision to refuse planning permission for the proposed plant.
An Bórd Pleanála ruled that the scale and type of the development was inappropriate in an agricultural area and that the extra traffic generated by the development would endanger public safety.
In response to a claim made on RTE's Six-One News alleging that the Minister for the Environment supported the Kilcock incinerator project Noel Dempsey said he has continually pointed out that as Minister he can have no view or opinion in relation to a planning application.
