 SWEET KILFLYNN
From Garrybawn to Fahavane from Keel to Laccamore,
Kilflynn is a very pretty village, situated one half mile from the main Tralee-Listowel road and perched on a green hillside facing south.
Tradition has it that Fionn MacCumhaill met his death here even though history relates that he was killed at the battle of Gowra in which the Fianna were devastated and defeated by the army of Carbri of the Liffey, son and successor to Cormac McArt.

Minister for Education and Science (Dr. Woods): The allocation for primary buildings in 2002 is €153.6 million, which is a record level of funding and demonstrates the Government's commitment to improving the accommodation situation in primary schools.
Due to the greatly increased level of activity in the primary buildings area since this Government came into office, there has been a substantial increase in the number of major and minor building projects in construction and this has given rise to a record level of building and refurbishment activity.
A proposed building project for St. Teresa's national school, Kilflynn will proceed to architectural planning and to the preparation of tender documents, as soon as possible, under the expanded building programme.

Decisions on projects proceeding to tender and construction are taken in the light of the annual [927] allocation for primary school buildings, the financial commitments to be met and the priority to be afforded to individual projects.
It is not envisaged that the proposed building project at St. Teresa's national school, Kilflynn will proceed to construction in 2002.
Later this year when a financial allocation has been made for the primary school building programme in the 2003 Estimates I will frame a further comprehensive programme of works that will proceed to construction and the school concerned will be one of those considered for inclusion in that programme.

Lord Kitchener was a famous residenent of Kilflynn as he lived here in Crotta House for 15 years He is famous for his millitary exploits in the Sudan and during the Boer War.
He was also appointed seceterary of state for war on the outbreak of World War 1.
Denis Brosnan is originally from Kilflynn where he grew up on a farm in Fahavane a townland on the outshirts of Kilflynn village.

 The Kingdom: New twist in ongoing PO row as outraged locals vent their fury
THE month old dispute at Kilflynn post office escalated this week with a threat by the local community to take legal advice on behalf of their displaced postman.
Accusing An Post of ignoring and bullying the local community, the Kilflynn and Lixnaw action group has warned the company to expect further action if it continues in its "intransigence" in the matter.
The dispute has crippled postal deliveries in the area for over a month with over 100 locals from Kilflynn and Lixnaw protesting outside the post office against the transfer of local postman, Thomas Foley, to Tralee.

 The Kingdom - 2004/09/09: Gardaí seize car to help with Kilflynn stabbing probe
A woman was admitted to Kerry General Hospital in a critical condition having suffered a number of stab wounds.
A man later arrived at the hospital and was admitted although his injuries were not deemed to be quite as serious.
Gardaí in Listowel conducted a detailed forensic examination of a car which was found near the scene of the stabbing in Kilflynn - on the main Tralee to Listowel road - and they have also spoken with locals in the area in an attempt to piece together the circumstances of the case.

 The Stack Clan
The Stacks were of, or at least allied with the various Fitzgerald and Fitzmaurice clans, the famous Geraldines, or Gheradini, who rode with William, and left Wales to become the lords and knights of Kerry.
These clans set up their court at Lixnaw, and the Stacks, connected to the Fitzgeralds by marriage, were awarded extensive tracts nearby at what was Castletown, and later Kilflynn.
Henceforth, the entire area from Kilflynn, for several centuries called Stackstown, to Abbeydorney and eastward became known as "Pubble Stack," or Stack's country - even to the extent of having Stack Mountain named for them.

Kilflynn Santos Senior Soccer team and Dingle Bay Rovers lived to fight another day at a sultry Mouthhawk Park Tralee on Sunday 10th June, when their Div 2 League Final ended in a scoreless draw, and means that their season will continue for at least another week.

In 1960 a Kilflynn O’Dorney combination inspired by the sheer brilliance of Jimmy held the County Champions Ballyduff to a drew in Tralee.
None of the famed Ballyduff half back trio of O’Sullivan, Hennessy and Quinlan could cope with Jimmy that day, unfortunately for the locals; Jimmy was missing from the replay having gone on the beet campaign to England.

 Man on trial charged with causing death after dangerous driving 18-01-06
A man is currently on trial charged with causing the death of a lorry driver who died after a two vehicle crash at a notorious fl spot.
John Wilmott (23), Blossom Hill, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, pleaded not guilty at Limerick Circuit Court on Tuesday, January 17th, to dangerous driving causing the death of David Power, Keel, Kilflynn, Co. Kerry on June 10, 2004 at Garryduff Cross, Newcastle, Co. Limerick.
The jury was told that Mr Power (35) was driving his lorry from Newcastlewest to Kerry when the crash happened.
