KILKEE'S famous Pollock Holes - beloved bathing spots of thousands of Limerick holiday makers - are under threat from a proposal to pump sewerage into the sea nearby, according to a local group.
According to a group of concerned Kilkee residents, the proposal is to pump sewerage from other parts of the county including Kilrush, to discharge at Kilkee.
Opposition to such a move is being led by a number of local groups including Kilkee boat and fishing club, Kilkee currach club, Kilkee sailing club and Kilkee diving club.

When the ambulance arrived the medical personnel decided that Keith injuries were too severe and in too much pain to attempt transfer to hospital in Cork by road.
This request was granted and Keith was transferred to the local football pitch by ambulance where he was transferred to the Rescue Helicopter and flown to Cork Hospital.

THE founder of Kilkee Marine Rescue Service this Thursday called on the Department of the Marine to investigate the handling of an emergency call from Kilkee.
Manuel Di Lucia is just one of hundreds of Kilkee people mourning the tragic death of local diver and rescue volunteer, Seamus Byrne, in the seaside resort on Sunday evening.
As the former chairman of the Kilkee Marine Rescue Service, he is calling on the Department of the Marine to investigate how the emergency call was dealt with, and to explain the delay.

All three were travelling in a 1984 Opel Kadet car which GardaĆ­ believe lost control on a bend and hit the sea wall on the outskirts of the village.
It is understood the car was purchased in Galway yesterday for €150 by one of four teenagers - a 19-year-old girl and three boys.
They drove the car to Kilkee and the young woman and a boy got out and three young people, the two girls and a brother of one of them, got in.
