City's ground, the Brandywell was located in a strongly nationalist area of Derry and during the early 1970s its surrounding areas saw some of the worst violence of the Troubles.
Derry City joined the Republic's league, the League of Ireland in the newly created First Division in 1985, won promotion to the Premier Division in 1987, and have stayed in the top flight ever since.
Derry City is one of a handful of clubs in the United Kingdom to be located in one country, but play in the league of another.

City stunned the Swedes with their third goal on the hour mark when O'Callaghan delivered the corners again and Dan Murray was again on hand to head the ball home to send the home fans wild.

i have to say that christopher doran will hopefully sign a deal with kilkenny soon as he is a magnifacint player.he has made a great impact already,scoring 3 goals in 2 games.i can only imagine what he can do as the season progresses.
i dont see how you can blame the board last year was the best year city have had for some time and there were great games to and the board i think showed great ambition bringing in pat scully in the first place.
The ground is at least two miles from the city centre as well which make it hard for some people to get to the games.
