Gaelic Athletic Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The GAA is sometimes accused of being a sectarian organisation, almost always by unionist politicians in Northern Ireland.
Since the 1960s, GAA has allowed its flagship stadium, Croke Park, to be used for International rules football — a compromise between Gaelic football and Australian rules — in matches between Ireland and Australia.
On 16 April 2005 the GAA's congress voted to suspend its Rule 42 ban on "foreign games" to enable the Football Association of Ireland and the Irish Rugby Football Union to play their international fixures at Croke Park while the Lansdowne Roadstadium is being rebuilt.

Kilkenny went into the 2000 final as Leinster champions, but were on the back of two consecutive defeats in All-Ireland finals.
The 2000 final was Kilkenny's first ever victory over Leinster rivals, an anomaly whereby the Leinster finalists met again in the All-Ireland final, due to the introduction of the "back door system" for the beaten finalists.

BBC SPORT | NORTHERN IRELAND | Kilkenny crush Offaly
Kilkenny's full-forward line had the measure of their men and when Offaly did get the ball into the Cats' half, invariably half-back stars Philip Larkin and Eamonn Kennedy were returning the sliothar with interest.
In contrast, Kilkenny created several opportunities to add to their two early goals and it was little surprise when Charlie Carter added the Cats' third four minutes before half-time.
Offaly needed early goals in the second half but instead it was Kilkenny who rattled the net once in the 49th minute after somewhat of a lull in the proceedings.

An Fear Rua - The GAA Unplugged
This GAA boundary clash between the historic neighbouring counties of Waterford and Kilkenny is the unlikely setting for a dash of Elizabethan politics.
However, many staunch Kilkenny hurling fans believe this is Waterford's way of increasing its hurling strength by stealth, at a stroke of a Ministerial pen in a big office beyond in Dublin.
The Kilkenny fear is that once the precious acres now coveted by Waterford are ceded, it will only be another few years before famous clubs like these will be swallowed up by the expanding Decies city and county.
