Second Nature Recordings :: KILL CREEK
Kill Creek was born a long time ago in a Kansas cornfield.
There was this punk rock club just outside the Lawrence city limits where anxious young misfits could drink Black Label beer, see their friends play music, and dream about making out afterwards in the shadowy cornfield that surrounded the place.
Kill Creek's longtime friend/producer, Ed, introduced Dan at Second Nature to these songs and soon there was talk of releasing them as a new album.

If your band was compared to the Guns N' Roses of today, you'd likely punch the person making the connection (unless of course you've developed a Botox addiction, glued fake dreadlocks to your head and turned the band's lineup over more times than Menudo).
The disc, compiled by the folks at Sleazegrinder (sleazegrinder.com), is titled Sons of Guns: 15 New Bands With An Appetite For Destruction, and is available with the May issue of British mag, Classic Rock (available locally at Everybody's, Phil's and Shake It Records, as well as Borders).
The band's next local appearance is May 13 at the Rhythm and Blues Café, as a part of the second annual, multi-bar/multi-band "Jammin' On..." fest.

Sometimes at these concerts, the audience would start a cheer: "We love Jesus, yes we do, we love Jesus, how 'bout you?" I didn't even go to high school football games, but at this moment, when this pastor was saying "shit" and demanding justice, I was almost ready to cheer.
Even at age 15, when I was rocking out to this record, I knew it wasn't easy, and I had to wonder if the singer was trying to convince himself of something that's all but impossible to believe.
The band joined in, bodies rocking and swaying, playing a distorted interval that cut into me, stabbing at my soul in a way the best music always does.

Their look is merely a complement to their sound: a dark fuzzing punk with the occasional twinkle twisted around their undoubted ear for a tune.

Once it became clear that the City was seriously committed to this and that the leading shelters and rescue groups were on board, it was clear that the Animal Law Committee's work was done and the Mayor's Alliance for NYC Animals was just beginning.
As part of the MOU, the City committed to providing non-financial resources such as access to parks, parking permits for adoption vans and ads in subways, trains and buses to the Mayor's Alliance to help its member organizations increase the adoption of cats and dogs.
As with the City, the fact that the New York City Bar Association was behind the Mayor's Alliance provided a great deal of immediate credibility – probably more than if any one animal organization tried to do this.

Untitled   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
Gorgidas, according to some, first formed the Sacred Band of three hundred chosen men, to whom, as being a guard for the citadel, the State allowed provision, and all things necessary for exercise: and hence they were called the city band, as citadels of old were usually called cities.
With a view to this they did well, again, to make Harmony, the daughter of Mars and Venus, their tutelar deity; since, where force and courage is joined with gracefulness and winning behaviour, a harmony ensues that combines all the elements of society in perfect consonance and order.
Gorgidas distributed this Sacred Band all through the front ranks of the infantry, and thus made their gallantry less conspicuous; not being united in one body, but mingled with so many others of inferior resolution, they had no fair opportunity of showing what they could do.
