One of these is a section of limestone bedrock that geologists have called a superb example of a "karst pavement." The rock in such a pavement has weathered through naturally occurring acids.
The terrain is highly varied with cliffs, scree slopes, wet and dry rock pavements, ponds, swamps, marshes, and multiple types of shoreline.
