State Sen. Kim Zurz said her first two months as a state senator for the 28th District have been amazing - and frustrating.
Zurz, a Democrat, was appointed in September to fill the last year of a term left when Sen. Leigh Herington of Rootstown resigned to campaign for a Portage County Common Pleas judgeship.
Zurz is used to being in the minority.

According to a press release from the Texas Realtors Association, lawmakers in at least 31 states have introduced or plan to introduce eminent domain legislation in future sessions.
And the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, which doesn't directly comment on the use of eminent domain itself, has welcomed comments from concerned citizens about the impact of eminent domain on the projects pursued by the planning commission.
Gene Krebs, former state representative and state director at Greater Ohio, wrote an op-ed column for the Columbus Dispatch this week regarding the moratorium on eminent domain that I have cosponsored.

The Summit county front-runner is expected to be Kim Zurz, a member of the county council.
While she may be known among party insiders, Zurz is an unknown for most registered Democrats in Portage, and has even less name recognition among the vast number of independent voters who usually vote Democratic.
I say we support Zurz or Seese for the Senate, Judge Laurie Pittman for Common Pleas, Linda Fankhauser for Clerk of Courts and anybody who is not in bed with Herington Cronies.

Due to the heavy Senate calendar on Wednesday and last minute floor amendments submitted by Sen. Kim Zurz (D-Akron), the full Senate vote on H.B. 135 was delayed.
Senate President Doug White (R-Manchester) told OHBA that because the Senate was voting on 11 bills at session it was expected to be a very lengthy meeting and he wanted to postpone the vote on H.B. 135 until March, especially considering the possibility of a confrontational debate if Sen. Zurz offered her floor amendments.
Arguably the Senate’s strongest consumer advocate and ranking minority member of the Senate Civil Justice committee, Sen. Marc Dann (D-Liberty Township), supports the bill and has signed on as a cosponsor to the legislation.

Several other bills would provide tax incentives to keep Ohio companies in the U.S. Although no hearings have been set on any specific proposal, the roundtable discussion of stakeholders will help keep the issue alive in the Ohio General Assembly.
