Kimagure Orange Road has a simple plot in that follows the romantic exploits of Kasuga Kyosuke, a boy from a family with paranormal powers, as he tries to decide which of the two girls in his life is the one for him.
This works perfectly in KOR as the characters are all so believable and easy to relate to, the whole series bring you back to your own High School days and first romantic adventures.
But as with any series of this length KOR does have episodes which feel as though they've been done before, yet while the situations may be similar they're played out sufficiently differently to still be entertaining.

It is interesting to note that as these characters progressed through previous KOR incarnations, their relationships and the corresponding themes in the stories moved through the stages of youth, from the beginning of junior high school to the beginning of college.
To sum up, you definitely shouldn't see this movie if you aren't already familiar with KOR (you might well enjoy it, but even if you could follow the plot it would only take away from your enjoyment of the rest of the series, and you won't be able to appreciate the character development).
Follows the firs Kimagure Orange Road Movie, I Want to Return to That Day, which concluded the KOR OAV series, which in turn followed the TV series, which was inspired by the comic book series by Izumi Matsumoto.

Kimagure Orange Road is made up of 40-odd episodes, six OVA's and one movie.
When the novel was first released, there was a huge uproar among the Orange Road fans due to it taking what happened in the movie and destroying what had been considered to be a perfect finale to the series.
It makes me long for more Orange Road (which is a big hint for ADV to go get the wonderful Kimagure Orange College fanfiction and get that animated) and will probably having me hauling out my laserdisc box sets and taking a trip down memory lane to a place where I wish I grew up.

This is for the people who enjoyed the "day to day" goings on in Kimagure Orange Road, the hygienist and outrageous situations, as much as or more then the overall story and character development.
Simply put this OVA serves no other purpose but to grant fans 8 more episodes in the world of Orange Road that are for the most part independent of the overall story, a story that was the real draw to this series for me, and as a result this experience was mediocre for me personally.
Despite this you could in reality watch this at any stage during the main series as once again there no overriding plot throughout these 8 new episodes which would indicate it comes after the TV series.
