		Kimber's customer service was so stinking bad that in order to rectify the problem I had to send the gun to them three times at UPS next day air rates at my expense.
		For Kimber's pricing, they should have way better quality, reliability and customer service than the much less expensive Springfields, but anecdotal evidence seems to be that Kimber at least has been experiencing a lot more inconsistancy of those areas than you would expect.
		Kimber sort of caters to the same kind of segment of the gun market as those car makers do, but those things are certainly not features they should be trying to emulate.

	Kimber Compact Review
		Even though the Kimber mag is a Shooting Star, there is a slight difference in the cutaway on the left side and when I first put the mags in the gun, they didn't want to lock back the slide.
		The second Kimber recoil spring lasted about another 2500 rounds when it too began to spread out at the back end and bind the slide even though it was definitely installed correctly.
		I have heard the Kimber phosphate finish criticized by more than one user, and it didn’t hold up for me. The Kimber phosphate finish does not seem to be as deep and tough as the mil-spec parkerization of the GI guns.

	Kimber Classic Target Just Got - 1911Forum
		I called Kimber Monday and customer service told me that my new Custom Target was manufactured 2/10/00 and shipped 2/11/00 and no their's no warrenty card with the new guns, your proof of purchase is your warrenty card, so don't loose that bill of sale that you got incase you have warrenty problems.
		I wonder if the fact that Kimber doesn't go by numerical serial numbers is why they have never being able to tell which Customs were shipped with stainless instead of carbon steel frames.
		What's also wierd is that on the underside of my slide there is serial number engraving (that is probably to keep the frame and the slide together during manufacture) however on mine there are two serial numbers engraved, one over the other, so that you can actually read neither.

		Kimbers CDP's look nice, but they have work that I wouldn't want performed on a carry gun for me.
		I was told the small parts were made with powdered metal(MIM) I believe a process that is cheaper than tooling forged pieces and produces uniform good looking parts with a fraction of the strength of traditional style parts.

		My Kimber Stainless II is extremely accurate, very well fitted, and feeds everything I have tried so far, even empty cases.
		My Kimber Series I is the most accurate centerfire pistol I've ever shot, and will give many a.22 target gun a run for its money.
		There are things to complain about with Kimbers (spotty QC, MIM parts if you care, stainless steel under the fl oxide), but their frames are superb.

		The only modifications that have been done are a McMillan/Jones flat trigger, a match bushing, and a hard chrome job by Cobra Chrome (Virgil Tripp).
