Haruhiko KINDAICHI, who happened to be as well-known among linguists as his late father Kyosuke Kindaichi died on May 20, 2004 at the age of 91 in Kofu near his vacation home.
Kindaichi graduated from the department of Japanese literature at Tokyo University, and worked as a professor at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and later on at Sophia University.
Regarding recent changes in colloquial Japanese usage, Kindaichi took the view that this was nothing new, since language is a tool of human communication bound to change over time: "Rather than be angry at today's young people for mutilating the language, I wish you'd look upon them kindly and with patience", he commented.

Precocious Curmudgeon: From the manga stack: KINDAICHI CASE FILES 2, 3
As if diabolical criminals weren’t challenging enough, Kindaichi also has to contend with interference from the aforementioned “professionals.” In the real world, resistance to amateur teens meddling in criminal investigations would seem fair enough, but this is fiction with a teen protagonist, so the pros get portrayed as a blend of arrogant and ignorant.
It would be nice if there were more of a balance between the two portrayals, a competent cop who’s an actual partner in the outcome, but it’s not too much of a distraction.
I'm glad to see a couple of other people mention them on-line because if their sales in our store are anything to judge by, they could use a bit of a boost.
