	A History of Kings Lynn
		In Kings Lynn there were Dominican friars (known as black friars because of their black costumes), Augustinian or Austin friars and Carmelites or white friars.
		However Kings Lynn was not completely safe and suffered several air raids.
		At first Kings Lynn supported parliament but in August 1643 after a change in government the town changed sides.

		King's Lynn railway station is the terminus of the Fen Line, and gives connections to Ely, Cambridge and London King's Cross.
		The Guildhall (1421) and the Town Hall (1895) are King's Lynn's most impressive secular buildings, built with flint-chequered facades, and adjacent to the Saturday Market Place (the original hub of the town).
		He navigated the American coast in 1790 and gave his name to Vancouver Island and the city of Vancouver some 5,000 miles away from King's Lynn.

		King's Lynn Union, formed under the Poor Law Amendment Act, in 1835, comprises the 2 parishes of St Margaret's and All Saints, in the borough, and the small parishes of North and West Lynn, on the opposite side of the river, in the Hundred of Freebridge-Marshland.
		The new Union Workhouse was finished in1856 in Exton road Kings Lynn and it would appear to also have been called St. James.
		South Lynn Workhouse, in Friar Street, which has been used by the parish of All Saints more than 60 years, was purchased by the overseers about 1826, but was sold after the formation of the Union.

	Wedgwood Glass from the Glass Encyclopedia
		Wedgwood Glass and later (from the mid 70s) Wedgwood Crystal, were the names used for the output of King's Lynn glassworks in the UK after it was taken over by the Wedgwood Group in 1969.
		Ronald Stennett-Willson, one of the most prominent UK post-war glass designers, had established King's Lynn Glass in 1967, and continued as Managing Director and chief designer of Wedgwood Glass until he reached retirement age in 1980.
		The King's Lynn glassworks was sold to Caithness Glass in 1988 and became known as Caithness Crystal until it was subsequently closed down in 1992.
