 | | Between 1714 and 1837, Kings of England were also rulers of Hanover, and after Hanover was overrun by the French in 1803 many Hanoverians travelled to Britain where they enlisted into a unit known first as the King’s Germans and then as the King’s German Legion. |
 | | In included line and light infantry, hussars and dragoons, and its own artillery: it peaked in size at 14,000 officers and men in 1812, and was disbanded after Waterloo. |
