Topic: King (SNK character)

Gamestudies - Street Fighter and The King of Fighters in Hong Kong: A Study of Cultural Consumption and Localization ...
Characters and terms of this game were adopted in Hong Kong comics, movies and Cantonese pop music (Chen, 2002).
Chun Li was one of the most favourite characters for "cosplay" (or "costume play", a Japanese-English term coined to refer to the dressing of ACG (animation-comic-game) lovers as their favourite ACG characters) (see Figure 3).
Of all the new characters, the most noteworthy is Zhan Hu ("Fighting Tiger") who is obviously borrowed from Wang Xiaohu, the protagonist of the classic Hong Kong fung fu comic, Long hu men (School of Dragons and Tigers) in terms of character design and martial arts (Figure 6).

King (SNK character) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Though King is often at war with her own sex, she appears to not be so with her sexuality and as well has having an implied pregnancy she seems to be attracted to Ryo Sakazaki.

Fast forward to 1986… One of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Orochi, masters of the Orochi power which have mastered one of the four elements (wind, fire, lightning and earth), known as Goenitz, attacks the seal the Orochi is under and kills its protector.
Although the character list is only up by two at 29 (two characters are individual), there are some more new characters mixed into the regular cast, including the incredibly popular New Faces team, which remains an all-time favorite for many KOF veterans.
While the character list is nice and big (34 total, 8 teams of four, 2 independent), the graphics have not improved very much and the backgrounds are dull and uninspired.

The King of Fighters 2000/2001 - The Next Level PS2 Game Review
Players no longer had to stick with one character for the duration of a fight, but could use their favorite team in a best-of-three round match.
Simply put, a striker would be a fourth character in your team exclusively used for a one-attack assist.
For what its worth, SNK did add a rearranged soundtrack, a survival mode, and in-game command lists (finally!) for this console release, all of which give it that little extra kick while not evolving the game into something completely fresh and new.

 Snk Vs Capcom Chaos Review
SNK vs. Capcom Chaos is the latest installation in Capcom's famous "versus" series, which dates all the way back to Street Fighter versus X-men.
SNK supporters were proud that SNK was going to lead development of the game, while a lot of Capcom fans were hesitant towards this news.
However, the roster is heavily stacked on the Capcom side with Street Fighter characters and heavily stacked with King of Fighters characters on the SNK side.

 King of Fighters 2002 & 2003 > Review
SNK has got a long running horse in the King of Fighters series, originally releasing all of the games in the series on the Neo Geo system and gradually porting them over to other home systems.
Offscreen characters don’t recover any health and the freshly tagged characters don’t launch any kind of offensive as they enter, meaning that there’s little good reason not to just finish your fight with the character on screen and let the next roll on when the first is knocked out.
Individual characters are handed new moves from time to time and there’s nothing like a 2-game pack to show those tweaks off, but apart from the very cosmetic change in who does what, you’re left with a very large crowd of characters that essentially all play alike.

Gamebits: Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO
SNK produced popular series such as King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown; and Capcom, of course, created one of the most influential fighting games of all time: Street Fighter II.
Each character can be played under one of six different grooves, with each groove offering its own brand of dodges, counters, and power bar (which, when full, allows the use of the most devastating special moves).
Between the huge roster of characters, the six grooves, different difficulty levels, and an adjustable speed option (at maximum speed, fights are quick, to say the least), the game can be played hundreds of times and remain fresh.

Every character is fully detailed, and created in a semi-realistic style that is opposed, for instance, to the Street Fighters' anime look.
The striker option is here (an extra character who can chime in during a match for a quick shot) as are the backgrounds.
The low-med res characters are good, but no where near fatal fury mark of the wolves or guilty gear X. The backgrounds range from decent to excellent with many old backgrounds returning as a bonus.

 GameSpy: King of Fighters Neowave
SNK’s KING OF FIGHTERS series is one of the most popular fighting series out there, and now they’ve revamped the series for the PlayStation2.
KING OF FIGHTERS has players squaring off in three on three matches, unlike most fighting games where each player is on their own.
The drawback, however, is that as long as a character is in heat mode, his or her life bar slowly drains away.

King of Fighters: Maximum Impact Review
Sure all of the characters are polygon rendered, but the gameplay is essentially the same as the 2D fighters, sans the sidestep move.
King of Fighter: Maximum Impact is the only fighting game that I can think of that allows players to do air juggles and ridiculous combos akin to the Capcom vs. SNK series.
All characters have a guard meter, after blocking so many attacks their guard will break and they will be unable to block for a critical three seconds.

Many combatants who were dropped off in previous SNK titles have found their way here to please some of the older fans.
A new Survival mode pits the gamer with the character of their choice and 3 bars of health, giving plenty of time to string together some pretty big combos against hordes of opponents.
SNK has attempted to adjust the resolution to be a bit more acceptable on televisions, but everything still looks just like it always has.

King of Fighters 02/03 - Xbox (XB) Reviews - The Armchair Empire
SNK, perhaps realizing its fanbase wasn't enough to keep it alive anymore, finally changed up things with The King of Fighters 2003.
SNK has released one of the best one-two punches in recent memory with this package - including both King of Fighters 2002, regarded by fans of the series as being one of the best; and KoF 2003, a faster-paced game eager to change up the formula.
SNK is also doing a bit more to integrate Mark of the Wolves into the King of Fighters games, as they've included badass outlaw Gato and Mexican wrestler Tizoc, as well as outfitting Terry Bogard in his Garou uniform.

SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium - review by Jolly Green
Th game has a pretty good assortment of characters, despite the fact that it was stated that this title would focus more on SNK's King of Fighters and Capcom's Street Fighter series.
However, SNK's King of Fighers was already comprised of characters from several of SNK's titles (Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting) as well as other characters.
The characters are all featured in their Super Deformed designs, and the Capcom characters are given similar treatment.

King's Field -- a name that conjures up a misty moorland, filled with rampaging knights slicing orc hordes in the name of the holy order of King Karlac the Indestructible.
Whatever the reason, some flocked to the series, and consider King's Field to be a "real" and "involved" role-playing experience, rather than the "interactive postcard simulation" many of the other PlayStation 2 RPG attempts have been over the last two years.

SNK must be growing more accustomed to the machine, especially its sound capabilities, because in my opinion, R-2 is quite an improvement in sound over the original, and I wonder what surprises in sound await us Neo Geo Pocket gamers.

In terms of graphics, SNK vs. Capcom uses SNK character sprite graphics from the King of Fighters series, including some minor details such as their time-over motions.
Admittedly, the sizes of the characters in SNK vs. Capcom are a bit unorganized.
SNK vs. Capcom's graphics have one flaw, though, which is that--aside from a few exceptions--the characters do not look all that new since their movements have been seen in previously released fighting games.

Alternatively, the SNK groove features another meter that fills when players pause from combat to charge it, potentially leaving themselves open to counter attack.

Given the wide variety of characters and motivations that fill any fighting games, it can be difficult to come up with a single final boss character that all the characters have a reason to fight.
Many games have gotten around this by giving each character their own boss, chosen from the roster of playable characters, with a little dialogue tacked on to explain just why this fight is so much more important than the rest, followed by an ending that wraps up the fight's aftermath.
