The King County Council is the legislative branch of government.
King County is represented in the United States Congress through the Washington 7th Congressional District and parts of the 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th districts.
King County borders Snohomish County to the north, Kitsap County to the west, Kittitas County to the east, and Pierce County to the south.

The Metropolitan King County Council, the legislative body of King County, Washington, consists of nine members elected by district.
Its current name and structure is the result of a merger of King County and the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle, better known as Metro, which was a federated county-city structure responsible for water quality and public transportation.
On November 2, 2004 voters approved a charter amendment to reduce the size of the council from thirteen to nine, to take effect in time for the 2005 elections.

King County Council member Pete von Reichbauer, who represents Auburn and Kent on the board, said he other board members likely will support a larger funding package, one that also includes improvements for Sounder commuter service as well extends light rail to Federal Way.
In King County, the additional funds could extend light rail or bus rapid transit from downtown Seattle to downtown Bellevue near Overlake Hospital; and extend light rail in south King County to South 200th Street.
That would mean additional funds for King County to extend light rail or bus rapid transit from Bellevue about another three miles to the Overlake Transit Center near Redmond; and in south King County light rail could be extended to Kent-Des Moines Road or to Federal Way, along with many other transit improvements.

Under a reorganization bordering on the bizarre, majority Democrats on the King County Council have agreed to let Larry Phillips remain as council chairman for a third consecutive year.
Assuming nothing happens over the three-day weekend to scotch the deal, the council is expected to adopt the reorganization plan Tuesday at its first meeting of the new year, and its first in four weeks.
She said that Phillips had promised her the chairmanship of the council's Law, Justice and Human Services Committee in exchange for her support of his re-election as council chairman, but that he then gave the committee leadership to Ferguson instead.

Handy: In the past, each county has maintained a voter registration database for that county and in the past the technology and the connections have not been in place for counties to have the up-to-date, accurate information needed to determine whether a felon has had voting rights restored.
After votes by counties were submitted to the Secretary of State and the numbers were transferred to the Legislature, the Legislature certified the election and her as governor.
I know King County is taking steps in a disciplinary nature against those four suspended employees, but I’m not in a position to comment on that.

They're waking up now, as their county teeters on the brink of having its middle class completely erased and nothing but the haves and the have-nots left to fill the void.
Apparently, the mind set of King County residents has been such that they've allowed their county to don the dubious distinction as being the most restrictive, property rights wise, in the entire state.
Even now, things continue to be brought up that should never have been put in place in ANY county in America, including, but not limited to, a "Growth Management Act" and acquiescing to the mantra of "150 years of environmental damage", dadada.

Metropolitan King County Council members yesterday delayed for two weeks a vote on County Executive Ron Sims' proposal to protect transsexuals and transvestites from discrimination.
In other business, the County Council amended the 9-month-old equal-benefits ordinance that requires contractors for the county to give the domestic partners of employees the same benefits as employees' spouses.
County Councilman Steve Hammond, R-Enumclaw, cast the only vote against the amendment, saying it improved the ordinance but did not remove his philosophical objections to the law.
