  HMS Cheviot - Phil Huntly
Two vessels of this class were launched in 1944 by the Clyde yard of Stephen and Sons Ltd, HMS Chevron and the Cheviot (2/5/44).
When King George VI, as a new king, was asked for his input to a class of five battleships, he chose King George V to commemorate his late father, Duke of York as his last title, Prince of Wales his brother and Anson and Howe made up the quintet.
During the early ‘50’s she visited various countries around the area and was in the Suez Canal during the uprising against Egypt’s King Farouk where she escorted merchant vessels and was in fact in the Great Bitter Lake when King George VI died in 1953.

The Mikasa was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy and was the Flagship of Admiral Togo.
She was usually referred to as "light" battleships, despite her 771ft long hulls and standard displacement of 34,841t, very close to the 35,000t treaty maximum.
Battleship Massachusetts, known by her crew as "Big Mamie," was assigned as flagship for a covering force of warships supporting the invasion of North Africa, "Operation Torch."  Naming conventions (ships) - meaning of word
Uses of the class as a noun are not hyphenated, while adjectival references are hyphenated, as in Ohio class submarine submarine.
When the class is named after its lead ship, italicise the name of that ship, for example the Lion class battlecruiser battlecruisers are named after HMS Lion (1910).
But when the class is named after something its members share in common, don't italicise the name, for example the Battle class destroyer destroyers are named after battles: there is no HMS ''Battle'' (or at least none in that class).

I fully agree that it is a stylized representation of the KGV class, probably issued prior to the completion of the KGV itself, by Will's cigarettes, who had a tradition of including a card in each pack as part of their "The World's Dreadnoughts" sales promotion series.
In 1939 John Player and Sons, producers of Player's Cigarettes and a branch of The Imperial Tobacco Company, LTD, produced two series of warship cards that were inserted into their cigarette packages.
The battleship was only launched in 1939 and apparently from the painting, the superstructure details were less than certain.

Battleships missed their chance for many surface actions because they were being held back for the more "serious" fleet actions that never occurred.
Of the earlier class of ships, the France had been lost in 1922, the Courbet and Paris escaped to Britain in 1940, and the Jean Bart, renamed Océan, was scuttled in Toulon in 1942 when the Germans moved to occupy all of France.

The King George V (1) have been unfairly underestimated because their modest size and armament, compared to the giants of the next generations produced by the US and the Japanese.
The Prince of Wales's performances in the Denmark Strait was disappointing because of mechanical troubles with the turrets, but the King George V was quite good when finishing off the German battleship a few days later.
In the meantime, the class had suffered its only loss during the war, the Prince of Wales (still her) engaged without air protection off Malaysia and sunk by Japanese aircraft.

I think the Iowa class battleships were the all-around best battleships and the ones that I would put my life in the most.
They also forget that the South Dakota class never took any significant damage in spite of being in combat for several years in a row (versus a few days for the Bismarck) and suffered a grand total of 38 deaths in her worst day.
Nonetheless, the idea of battleship versus battleship combat is almost moot since the primrary cause of death or damage to battleships was from the air.
