  James I Of Aragon - LoveToKnow 1911
JAMES I., the Conqueror (1208-1276), king of Aragon, son of Peter II., king of Aragon, and of Mary of Montpellier, whose mother was Eudoxia Comnena, daughter of the emperor Manuel, was born at Montpellier on the 2nd of February 1208.
The king fell very ill at Alcira, and resigned his crown, intending to retire to the monastery of Poblet, but died at Valencia on the 27th of July 1276.
King James was the author of a chronicle of his own life, written or dictated apparently at different times, which is a very fine example of autobiographical literature.

Chapter 16: A History of Aragon and Catalonia
Under it, Juan was recognized as King by the inhabitants of Navarre, on promising to respect the laws and freedoms of their country, while, after his death, and he was then of advanced age, the nobles swore to accept the Infanta Leonor, the wife of the Count of Foix, as their Queen.
The Portuguese King was thus induced by the representations of a number of Castilian nobles to come forward as a claimant to the crown, and to invade Castile, where he was proclaimed as King, with his betrothed Juana.
King Ferdinand was thus obliged to remain constantly in Castile, and a local quarrel among the barons of Aragon prevented King Juan from defending Perpignan, which fell into the hands of the French in March 1475.

Luminarium Encyclopedia: Ferdinand II of Aragon.
FERDINAND V of Castile and Leon, and II of Aragon, was the son of John I of Aragon by his second marriage with Joanna Henriquez, of the family of the hereditary grand admirals of Castile, and was born at Sos in Aragon on the 16th of March 1452.
His marriage in 1469 to his cousin Isabella of Castile was dictated by the desire to unite his own claims to the crown, as the head of the younger branch of the same family, with hers, in case Henry IV should die childless.
As king of Aragon he abstained from inroads on the liberties of his subjects which might have provoked rebellion.

James I of Aragon (Catalan: Jaume I) (Montpellier February 2, 1208 - July 27, 1276), surnamed the Conqueror, was the king of Aragon, count of Barcelona and Lord of Montpellier from 1213 to 1276.
At the close of his life King James divided his states between his sons by Yolande of Hungary, Peter receiving the Hispanic possessions on the mainland and James, the Kingdom of Majorca (the [[Balearic Islands) and the Lordship of Montpellier, a division which inevitably produced fratricidal conflicts.
King James wrote or dictated at various stages a chronicle of his own life, "Llibre Dels Fets" in Catalan, which is the first self-chronicle of a Christian king.

Aragon also asserts that, from the time he was given the option to transfer, he was never told that he was required to do anything to effectuate the transfer other than to inform Mr.
Aragon claims that King Soopers' failure to transfer or promote him prior to the sale of the warehouse operations to Compass was discriminatory and that the refusal to rehire him was in retaliation for his engaging in a protected activity.
Aragon disputes that he actually declined the transfer, arguing that he merely asked that it be deferred for a short period of time in order to deal with personal problems.
