Egypt: The Kings (Pharaohs) of Ancient Egypt
For most of the time, the usual word for the king of ancient Egypt was nesu, but a whole range of titles were applicable to any full statement of a king's names and titulary.
Kings were not only males, and unlike in modern monarchies, the ruler of ancient Egypt, whether male or female, was always called a king.
In many if not most accounts, the king is viewed as an incarnation of Horus, a falcon god, and the posthumous son of Osiris, who himself was a divine king slain by his brother, Seth.

Even though the king gave his “chosen people” a homeland at the crossroads of the world, and even though he introduced them to their neighbors as a miracle family, they tested his patience until he stopped talking to them.

If this is correct, the time period of the war in which Jesus is known as King of kings is probably a reference to the lessening of Papal Rome's powers and control (probably the Reformation Movement).

King of Kings (1961)   (Site not responding. Last check: )
'King of Kings' features Jeffrey Hunter's finest performance, as a young, dynamic Jesus of Nazareth, and his interpretation, open and earnest, is the best part of a movie both uneven and flawed.
Produced by many of the people responsible for 'Ben Hur', the film utilizes some of the same sets, actors (Frank Thring appears in major roles in both films), and composer (Miklos Rozsa, whose score for 'King of Kings' was one of his finest).
While 'King of Kings' lacks the big names and budget of 'The Greatest Story Ever Told', or the emotional core of 'Jesus of Nazareth' or 'The Last Temptation of Christ', in Jeffrey Hunter, the film presents possibly the most compassionate of all screen Messiahs, and makes this film a very moving experience!

 The King of Kings (1927)
Cecil B. DeMille’s biblical silent masterpiece The King of Kings, until now available in home video only in DeMille’s shortened 112-minute 1928 cut, is now available in a new restored DVD edition from Criterion that includes both the original 155-minute 1927 “roadshow” version and the shorter general release version.
The incident in which DeMille conflates the the Roman tax controversy with the temple tax episode is typical of the film’s approach, which as Mike Hertenstein of Flickerings.com points out is more thematic in organization than determined by the canonical chronology.
Thus, the episode in which the crowd moves to acclaim Jesus king by force is precipitated, not by the miracle of the loaves and fishes (John 6), but at the time of the triumphal entry, which in turn is set after the cleansing of the temple rather than before.

The King of Kings   (Site not responding. Last check: )
The King of Kings is the greatest story ever told as only Cecil B. DeMille could tell it, with the soundtrack for this silent epic improvised by Timothy Tikker on the 4m 1925 E. Skinner organ at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church, Detroit.
In 1927, working with the biggest budget in the history of Hollywood, DeMille spun the life and Passion of Christ into one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Featuring text drawn directly from the Bible, a cast of thousands, and a cinematic bag of tricks that could belong to none other than Hollywood’s greatest showman, The King of Kings is at once spectacular and deeply reverent — part Gospel, part Hollywood epic — including a segment in very early Technicolor.

Reviews: The King of Kings - Christianity Today Movies
Despite being a silent film itself, The King of Kings remained popular well into the sound era, so much so that no other major Hollywood movie about the life of Christ was made for over 30 years, until Nicholas Ray directed the similarly-titled King of Kings in 1961.
As the crowds praise Jesus and hail him as their king, Satan (Alan Brooks) offers him the kingdoms of the world; and while this clearly isn't quite how the Gospels describe these events, the combined sequences do heighten our awareness of the earthly power Christ could have claimed for himself, but did not.
Alas, The King of Kings also reflects DeMille's belief that you needed to promise audiences a bit of sin in order to lure them into the theatre, so long as you punished or redeemed the sinners and thus satisfied the more religious members of your audience; he made his films for flappers and fundamentalists alike.
