Currently one of eight clubs competing in the SFL's Premier League, Kingborough has a long, proud and distinguished history which has yielded 14 senior premierships in a variety of competitions.
The arrival in the SFL in recent years of five former TFL Statewide heavyweights made life difficult for Kingston - which from 2004 became known as Kingborough - but the club has never previously shirked a challenge and is unlikely to do so now.

All Hobart councils are cooperating in a grant application to augment the funding of the BDO from 2 days a week to 5 days a week.
Each of 5 councils will put in $6000 for his salary etc. and Kingborough were considering adding an extra $4000 to that budget to fund some of his promotional activities in the Kingborough area.
Would BT be prepared to support the activities and start a Bicycle User Group in the area to assist and advise Council and the BDO.

 Kingborough Football Club (The Tigers) History - Southern Football League
The Kingston Football Club was established in 1886 making it one of the oldest surviving Australian Rules football clubs in the country.
In 1893 Kingston joined the Southern Tasmanian Football Association and played its first game in the STFA against North Hobart FC on May 4th 1895.
The club competed in the Channel Football Association in 1908 then the Kingborough Football Association until 1966.

SFL Premier League cellar dweller Kingston has voted to rename itself the Kingborough Tigers next season.
The club took this option to expand its marketability in the Kingborough municipality (South of Hobart) which takes in areas such as Kingston, Blackmans Bay, Howden etc.
Former TFL Statewide League club Sandy Bay (folded 1997) pioneered this move in the mid-1990's by calling its underage team the Kingborough Seagulls, with the eventual idea of basing the Seagulls in the region, away from its former Queenborough home, but, found little co-operation from neighbouring clubs in lower divisions, and dropped the idea.

Clarence and Kingborough Mayors have united to speak out over a massive increase in the fire service levy of 18.8 per cent in Clarence and 21 per cent in Kingborough.
Mayors Jock Campbell and Graham Bury said that just days after the Government pledged there would be no increases in state taxes, local government had been forced to wear the odium of a backdoor tax increase.
Mayor Bury said the State Government and the State Fire Service had not provided any explanation or justification for the fire levy increase of 21 per cent in Kingborough.
