If Kingda Ka is the attraction that's supposed to bring the numbers back up and get people back into the park, said Bob Rader, senior vice president at Capital West Securities and follower of the Six Flags saga, then the key is how fast construction crews are working on the ride.
SixFlags.com is no longer promoting Kingda Ka as one of their biggest rides of the season, but has a note posted saying that the thrill ride is inoperable at the current time.

Kingda Ka Rough? - ThrillNetwork Boards
I guess the difference there is that Kingda Ka cruizes along at top speed for those additional 2 seconds where TTD doesn't have that extra launch track.
Kingda Ka's trains however appear to be slightly modified Intamin Looper trains, which don't need to tolerate speeds as high.
If that is the case, it could simply be that the train on Kingda Ka, whether it be the wheel bearings, the suspension, whatever, simply was never intended for that type of speed, where TTD's trains were better suited.
