The following subjects, north of the new channel, were transferred from the parish of Kinglassie and the county of Fife to the parish of Portmoak and the county of Kinross: part of Auchmuir farm (which became part of Bowhouse farm).
Also, a detached part of the parish of Portmoak (consisting of The Ryelaw) was transferred from Portmoak and the county of Kinross to Kinglassie and the county of Fife.

Stay on the B922 through the two right angle bends (1 st one to the right, 2 nd to the left) and Bowhouse farm is the second farm on the left past the two right angle corners.
Turn down left (off the now single carriageway B921) onto the B922 (signposted for Kirkcaldy) just before reaching the village of Kinglassie, and Bowhouse farm is the first farm on the right hand side about a mile further up the road (it is clearly visible from the B921/922 junction).

 Pit-B-11.Bogside Pit, Kinglassie
Bogside Pit, north-west of Kinglassie, was in existence in 1886, at the same time as the Kirkness Pit, and lay to the east of North Bogside Farm.
Note: In the late 1890s, it was recognised that there may possibly be another smaller basin of coal in the same field, somewhere to the south of Kinglassie, but the mineral capabilities of the ground could only be determined by further boring exploration.
This, of course, proved to be the case and coals in the southern part of the Kinglassie coalfield were mined at Kinglassie Pit and Mine (see separate entry).

Formerly known as Goatmilk, the village of Kinglassie lies to the north of the Lochty Burn 3 miles (5 km) south west of Glenrothes in Fife.
It was given to the monks of Dunfermline by Alexander I, but little of antiquity remains except for the Dogton Stone with its Celtic Cross situated in a field a mile (1½ km) to the south.
