Of the cultivated land in Kingsbury in 1086 6 ploughs were required on the peasant land, approximately 4 hides, and 3 ploughs on the freehold demesne land, probably about 3 hides.
A comparison of the figures for 1086, 1276-7, and 1426 suggests that, as the population of Kingsbury grew, the larger holdings were divided and by 1426 many under-holdings had become separated from the main tenement.
There was a shepherd in Kingsbury in 1851 (Footnote 56) and Grove House was in the hands of a sheep salesman between 1868 and 1880.

The dame school at the Hyde was apparently short-lived and in 1861 an infants' school was built north of the Congregational chapel in Edgware Road.
The schools' inspector was dissatisfied, apparently because of the cramped premises, and Kingsbury school board, formed in 1875, replaced it with a board school with accommodation for 120 children in 1876.
A mixed secondary school, Kingsbury county, was housed in a building once belonging to the Aircraft Manufacturing Co. and adapted to take 380 pupils from 1925 until 1931, when a new school was built in Princes Road.

It was named after Private Bruce Steel Kingsbury, from Preston, who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his action at Isuvara, New Guinea, in 1942.
Kingsbury underwent residential development in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Consisting of about thirty streets, Kingsbury is relatively small, and is bounded on two of its three side by Plenty Road and the Darebin Creek with a linear park.

Private Bruce Kingsbury was awarded the first Victoria Cross ever gained on territory administered by Australia and the first awarded in the South-West Pacific for his actions at the Battle of Isurava on 29 August 1942.
When the Japanese broke through the Australian positions near Isurava village, Kingsbury rushed forward firing his Bren gun, causing a number of casualties and clearing a path through the enemy that enabled his mates to push the enemy back.
