The Town was incorporated in 1726, though prior to 1726 Kingston was known as the North Precinct of Plymouth.
In the nineteenth-century nearly 300 vessels, large and small, were built in Kingston boat yards and sailed as fishing boats, whalers, coasters and traders in the Mediterranean, Middle East, and China trade.
Kingston is especially proud of its Norman P. Opachinski Athletic Field Complex, consisting of a concession stand and eleven fields for baseball, soccer, and football located near the town center on Pottle Street.

The notice she was given specified that she had (1) voted on a matter which she had been informed she could not legally vote on causing the petitioner to have to reapply and (2) violated a written policy relating to appointed officials by having 3 absences within the last six months.

Nahum Bailey, a prolific auger manufacturer in Kingston, Massachusetts, was born in 1793, the son of Eliphalet Bailey and Martha Robinson.
The Local History Room at the Kingston Public Library in Kingston, Massachusetts has a photograph of a small building identified by Emily Drew as having been Nahum Bailey's workshop.
In 1815, Nahum Bailey bought out Thomas Cushman's interest in the Stony Brook Iron Works, which was located off Maple Street, a short distance from Kingston Center, and it is presumed that he soon started manufacturing augers at this new location.
