The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is a London borough and the oldest Royal borough in England and Wales.
The current borough was formed in 1965 as a merger of the previous Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames with the boroughs of Malden and Coombe and Surbiton which were transferred from Surrey to Greater London.
Kingston still has a monument, the Coronation Stone, on which the monarchs were said actually to have been crowned.

On Sunday 5th October 2003 a band made up of current Kingston ringers, plus several who were involved at the time of the augmentation, rang a quarter peal of Stedman Cinques, this was conducted by Jeremy Pratt, who called the first quarter peal, also Stedman Cinques, on the new twelve.
All Saints Church is at the centre of Kingston - there has been a church on the site for over 1000 years.
