		Kinmundy is a city in Marion County, Illinois, United States.
		Some claim that the name "Kinmundy" came from the railroad paymaster, who was want to say: "I can't pay you today, but I sure can Monday." It may also be named for a lake in Scotland.
		Kinmundy is home to Shawn Garrett who is currently playing triple A baseball for the Memphis Redbirds.

		The Town of Kinmundy had its start with the purchase by John BLURTON from the Illinois Central Railroad the north half of the southeast quarter of section 22, T4N, R3E, on the 1st of March 1857, which in turn was purchased by William SPROUSE, who platted the town on the 10th of April.
		“The Kinmundy Register” began in 1879, by W. “The Reform Leader” was moved from Sandoval by G. “The Kinmundy Express” began 8 Nov 1883 by R. It was bought by F. GRISSOM of Farina in 1898, followed by purchasers Gus SPITZE, Lem BALLANCE, and Norris VALLOW.
		There were several different gas stations, grocery stores and cafes, etc. Kinmundy may not be the size of town it once was, but it has a proud people who care about it and strive to keep it a beautiful peaceful place to live for themselves and generations to come.
