Kinnegad, located at the junction of two major routes in Ireland, where the roads from Dublin to Galway and Sligo meet, it has a long tradition in providing hospitality for the travelling public.
At the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century, it became a boomtown due to the passing of stagecoaches.
The terrain around Kinnegad is a walkers paradise, especially “An Boreen Bradach” a walkway of approximately 3.5 miles which semi-circles the town.

Under the Government announcement of the pilot projects on 1st June 1999 this project was to be assessed by the NRA for its suitability to be advanced as a PPP.
Subsequently the project was included as one of the projects approved under Tranche II of the PPP Roads programme as announced by the NRA in June 2000.
The project involves the construction of 39 km of motorway from Kinnegad to Kilcock and is an extension of the Kilcock-Maynooth-Leixlip motorway on the N4/N6 Sligo/Galway to Dublin route.

I was just wondering if anyone here knows how long it will take to get from Kinnegad to Galway when the new motorway is finished to Galway.
Aren't you jumping the gun a bit here - like wait for it to finish and find out - the distance is about 90 miles from Kinnegad to Galway - so if you break the speed limit and have a wet sail at 80 mph the answer will be about an hour ten.
N6 Galway-Ballinasloe is due to start next year so the only section not guaranteed to be finished within 3 years is Athlone-Ballinasloe so you can assume it will come in by the end of the decade.

The B and B is in a location which makes travel to anywhere in the south of Ireland easy and it is only about 1 hour from Dublin.
The countryside around Kinnegad is very beautiful and there is a lovely Cathedral in the nearby town.

Westmeath County Council has made the M4 Kinnegad Enfield Kilcock Motorway Scheme 2001, under Section 47 of the Roads Act, 1993 as amended and extended by the Roads (Amendment) Act, 1998 which it proposes to submit to An Bord Pleanala ("the Board") for approval.
