		In his opening remarks, Hon Salum Londa, the Mayor for Kinondoni Municipal Council, said that the current situation in the council reveals that most of the functions carried out by the sectoral departments at all levels involves manual processes and is in greater extent ineffective and inefficient.
		Kinondoni Municipality is now engaged in an expansion project of this pilot much wiser than three years ago when the pilot was commissioned.
		The workshop was organised by the Kinondoni Municipality Council, IICD and COSTECH.

	Over 163,000 register in Kinondoni in 4 days
		Some 163,269 people were registered in Kinondoni District in the first four days of the voter registration exercise in Dar es Salaam Region.
		Berege, who is also the Kinondoni Municipal Council Director, said 669,002 people were expected to be registered in the district during the three-week exercise scheduled to end on April 18.
		The vice-president was met at the centre by several leaders led by Kinondoni District Commissioner Athumani Mdoe.

		It is saddening to see Chacha limping his way to Kinondoni Ground as motorists heading towards the same venue by pass him without even a courteous offer for a lift - a contrast of what this gentleman’s game teaches.
		Chacha prefers Kinondoni scoreboard to others as it is low and does not necessitate him to climb the chair to place the number plates on the board unlike those at Coast or Gymkhana.
		The board at Kinondoni is also nearer to the scorers.

	Kinondoni chalks successes,mayor says
		The Kinondoni Municipal Council Mayor, Salum Londa, has said that the KMC has made tremendous inroads towards community development as many achievements have been recorded within five years of its existence.
		Mayor Londa made the remarks in a speech he delivered when he was closing the Full Council meeting held on Friday at the KMC Conference Hall.
		He said from the year 2000 the Kinondoni Municipal Council had chalked impressive successes in various areas.

	AMREF - Info centre - Valuable lessons in life skills
		The programme seeks to help youngsters aged 10-24 to cope better with the social challenges they face, such as conflict with their friends, or parents, relationship with the opposite sex and peer pressure to get into drugs or have sex.
		The Kinondoni project aims to encourage adoption of responsible sexual behaviour among young people as a means for them to escape early HIV and STD infections, as well as early pregnancy and drug abuse.
		The session that Mama Bupamba, who is the project manager at Kinondoni, is facilitating is for a group of young people from nine of the municipality’s 27 wards, who will then go back and share what they have been taught with the other youth in their communities.

		Taking the population of each ward (Kinondoni 42 387, Msasani 51 293, and Mwananyamala 72 508) and the ward branches from which the urban farmers would be interviewed, I calculated a total sample size in the proportion 1:1.33:2.
		Although the number of widows and divorcees was small, the percentage who were widows was highest in Mwananyamala: Kinondoni and Msasani were about equal in the percentage who were divorced.

	Water Project
		Different people initiated gardens in which they plant vegetables and sell in order to gain money to sustain their lives.
		The IRFF has worked influencing the Kinondoni Municipal to act up on the situation of Makuburi area.
		As a result there have been funds provided by CARE - Tanzania to the Kinondoni Municipal in order to address the water problem by digging deep well and building water kiosks in Makuburi Area.

		THE DAR ES SALAAM City Council is inviting bids for the provision of lifeguard and rescue services along the city's beach areas.
		The Kinondoni municipal director of Dar City, Mr Edgar Berege, told The EastAfrican last week that the successful company will ensure the safety of beach goers from dangerous sea animals and conduct rescue operations in the Indian Ocean waters.
		The white sharks weigh 300 to 350 kilogrammes and are said to migrate from the coastal waters of Mozambique and South Africa.

	The EastAfrican
		On April 22, Taifa Letu, a Tanzanian weekly tabloid of the IPP Media Group, reported complaints by commuters and drivers about the pathetic condition of the Mwenge bus terminus in Dar es Salaam.
		Less than a week later, the Kinondoni Municipality, under which Mwenge falls, began repair works on the terminus.
		One wonders how the Kinondoni Municipality got the funds at such a short notice.

		Aside from a few discos and posh hotels like the Kilimanjaro and New Africa that feature dinner-dance music for tourists and local upstarts, central Dar es Salaam is dry as far as music is concerned.
		Almost all the bars and dance halls that feature live music are located in residential areas like Kinondoni, Magomeni, Manzese, Msasani, Mwenge, Ubungo, Yombo and as far as Kimara about twenty kilometers from town.
		Ever since they popularized their Kamanyola bila jasho ("dance Kamanyola without sweating") style in the late seventies, Maquis' image has been one of laid-back, easy entertainment, hence, the perception of their dances as ‘civilized’ affairs preferred by a more high-class clientele.
