Moreover, Kintetsu’s rejection of an offer from the Japantown Community and Cultural Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) to purchase the bowling alley and its building for $6.7 million has added to tensions, and fueling charges that Kintetsu is ignoring the needs of the community.
Kintetsu believes it can fetch $7 million for the two-story, 42,000-square-foot building from investment groups interested in developing the space for office and commercial use.

Perhaps it was a fitting place for the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes' slugger to end one of the greatest individual seasons in Japanese pro baseball history, one filled with success and glory but also falling a few steps short of being truly magical.
The former Cubs outfielder led the Buffaloes to their first Pacific League pennant since 1989, but despite hitting.333 and two home runs in the Japan Series, he shared the disappointment of a one-sided defeat in which the Buffaloes sputtered to a series record-low.171 team average.
Kintetsu led only one game before the eighth inning — when Rhodes hit a solo homer to open the scoring in Game 4.

YSHP: Japanese Baseball -- Buffaloes History
As their batting declined, Kintetsu spent the next three years in the PL cellar, only briefly rising to fourth place (74-63) in 1954 when they got a brief infusion of good pitching.
Though Kintetsu's batters floundered, Mihara led the Buffaloes to fourth place his first year back in the PL. With the help of young hurler Keishi Suzuki (24-13, 286 strikeouts) in 1969, the new skipper guided Kintetsu to second place (73-51), two games behind the pennant-winning Hankyu Braves.
If this is any indication of things to come, Kintetsu shouldn't have long to wait before they capture their fourth pennant.
