LONG TIME COMING: Jose Rijo gave up two hits, two walks and no runs in two innings of work in his first Major League appearance in six years.
The right-hander's six-year, 30-day absence is the longest since pitchers Kip Gross and Larry Luebbers went six years between Major League appearances from 1993 to 1999.
Rijo is the first player to appear in a Major League game after receiving a Hall of Fame vote (1 vote in 2001) since Minnie Minoso received six votes in 1969 and then played for the Chicago White Sox in 1976 and 1980.
