The characters in the original series, and (to a lesser extent) later series, are a diverse multinational group.
The series was created during a time of cold war politics with Communist nations, and the plots of its episodes occasionally reflect this.
The original series infrequently shows encounters with other advanced spacefaring civilizations, including the Klingons (meant to represent the Soviet Union) and the Romulans (meant to represent the Chinese), both of which were involved in separate "cold wars" with the Federation.

Kirk then signed with MGM studios where she made a small number of films, before moving over to Warner Brothers in 1952 for About Face.
As her career transitioned into television work, Kirk would only make a few more, the most notable of which were Johnny Concho (1956) with Frank Sinatra and her final film- The Sad Sack (1957) with Jerry Lewis.
In addition to numerous guest appearances on various television series in the 1950s and 60s, Kirk was best known for joining Peter Lawford in playing the wise-cracking, husband-and-wife detective team of Nick and Nora Charles in a small screen adaptation of the classic Thin Man film series.

series generally only have one Ensign, one Lieutenant, etc. This is rediculous to have the focus and the stories on only one Ensign while the other Ensigns don't even get to speak.
Yeoman Rand, who was originally planned to be Kirk's long-term love interest (and some say the original intended "trilogy" of "Kirk, Spock, Rand", as some early merchandise labeled her in the cast listing) disappeared after just 13 episodes.
As a side-effect of having the largest cast ever for a television series, we would also have the most diverse cast ever for a television series, including the largest fl cast for a television series, and the largest hispanic cast ever for an American series.

Animated STAR TREK - Series Background
The animated Star Trek series had its faults mostly due to the limited range of action that could be portrayed given the limited animation employed and the time pressures under which the series was produced.
However, one of the series greatest strengths was its ability to show alien life-forms, cities, spaceships and spatial phenomenon that would have been cost prohibitive or downright impossible to do in a live action series.
In a way, the animated series was able to soar in the science-fiction universe where the live-action series could only visit planetscapes that could be built on a small soundstage or found on the Paramount backlot, and could only interact with aliens that could be created by applying inexpensive amounts of make-up to human actors.

Setting a TV series in Iraq while the war still rages is a risky and, some have said, a presumptuous proposition.
Though many people will inevitably read their positions on the war into the series, Over There is careful to take no position of its own, other than to note that war takes an incredible toll on all involved.
And if the series seems anti-war at times, that's an inevitable consequence of telling its story from the point of view of the soldiers doing the fighting and sometimes the dying.

Blade: The Series | PopMatters Television Review
But, as anyone acquainted with the Amen Ra film franchise knows, the tradeoff was occasionally attractive, at least from our moviegoers' distance: he gets to ride a cool bike, wear awesome ink on fabulous musculature, and shoot some fairly spectacular weapons at those grim bloodsucking nasties who deserve to be obliterated.
This version of the Marvel superhero is played by Kirk "Sticky" Jones (formerly Sticky Fingaz, formerly of Onyx, and just last year, excellent on Over There), possessed of an appealingly growly expressiveness.
But as much fun as Shen is (on recovering Blade after an especially debilitating vampire encounter, he goes so far as to call him "big guy"), the series adds another mod-squaddish element in the form of Krista (a stiff-seeming Jill Wagner).

My assumption that Kirk's first five-year mission ended in 2270 and not in 2269 is backed up by the seventh season STAR TREK: Voyager episode "Q2" in which Icheb states that Kirk's first five-year mission ended in 2270.
