Hand rails around Nankai Kishiwada station are coiled to evoke the image of a Danjiri carpenter atop his float, a stain glass image of the float stares at me from the city's main arcade, sewage lids bear the image as does the town's coolest omiyage -- tiny cakes shaped like the Danjiri.
Apart from being a day of reverence it was the only chance people had to enter the castle grounds (a reconstruction of Kishiwada Castle remains).
