Speaking at a news conference called to outline his strategy in the run up to next year's presidential elections, Omirou said KISOS would not get into a process of haggling, stressing that dialogue and the desire to achieve consensus was addressed to all political forces in the country, with no exceptions.
He added that KISOS was abandoning the policies, which others had chosen to follow in the past.
The KISOS chairman said he would be calling regular news conferences in order to promote his party's efforts "for the rebirth of the country".

KISOS President Yiannakis Omirou and the leader of TKP Husein Agulemli, heading delegations, met this morning in Nicosia.
Omirou also expressed the readiness of KISOS to promote contacts with Turkish Cypriot progressive parties and organisations, because this cooperation could be the basis "for finding a solution, which will be long-lived".
He added that "a settlement should be based on UN resolutions, the high level agreements of 1977 and 1979 and the acquis communautaire," noting that "relations of trust and understanding between the two communities" are a "necessary prerequisite" for a solution.

 Lack of mobility causes concern
Socialist Kisos, a junior partner in the government, yesterday suggested that the European Union should get “more actively involved” in efforts to resolve the island’s division.
It hinted that Cyprus might be discussed at a future EU summit so that a set of principles be laid down to govern a solution which should be fully in line with the acquis communitaure.
Kisos said the easing of travel restrictions was a “ploy” by the Denktash regime to create a picture of normalisation of the situation and so divert world attention from the real problem.

Cyprus solution only within UN bounds
BY GEORGE GILSON Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou meets with Cyprus' socialist KISOS party leader Vassos Lyssarides in Athens yesterday.
I asked him to reconfirm this at the first opportunity," Papandreou told the Athens News at a press conference after a meeting with Cyprus' socialist KISOS party leader Vassos Lyssarides in Athens yesterday.
The meeting came on the heels of a European Parliament report, approved yesterday by an overwhelming majority, which stated that Cyprus will be in the first wave of EU applicant countries to accede and that such admission to the Union does not presuppose a solution of the island's political problem.
