The occasion was the first opportunity for the Kissi people of the three countries to come together and it was regarded by all present as the first step to building people-to-people regional cooperation and solidarity in the sub-region.
The Kissi group looked at the factors responsible for the war and how it affected them as a people, including difficult issues related to their experiences as refugees and how they were treated while in neighboring countries.
The meeting recognized that geographically, the Kissis are remote from the respective capital cities and their situations are made worse by bad roads and poor communications networks.

Kissi pennies were tied in bundles of twenty and used for a variety of purposes.

Elder Kissi is the author of, "Walking in the Sand: A History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ghana."
According to Kissi, "Congregating in meetinghouses was prohibited by decree, so most members met in their homes and in small groups to study the scriptures, sing and administer the sacrament." On a few occasions, members of the Church were arrested and held overnight on charges of holding meetings.

 Kissi - Iron Age, Burkina Faso
The central region of the province Oudalan, located in the north of Burkina Faso, is characterised by the presence of numerous Stone Age, Iron Age and sub-recent archaeological sites, some of which have been excavated by the Frankfurt Research Programm (SFB 268) since 1994.
Among all the Iron Age sites discovered, the circa one hundred known in the Kissi region became the central focus of consideration from 1996 onwards, as the first excavations there were carried out.
A probable interpretation for this type of find is the existence of a differentiated social structure in terms of economic and maybe political hierarchy, by which warriors detained privileged positions.

Auch in Kissi fanden sich hunderte solcher Windhandelsperlen.
Die Funde von Kissi beleuchten in eindrucksvoller Weise, daß es einen solchen Handel gegeben haben muß, auch wenn er sicherlich etliche Zwischenstationen hatte.
