Topic: Kitbashing

Kitbashing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kitbashing is a practice in which a new scale model is created by combining elements from existing, commercially-available model kits; these elements may be added to an existing base, or to each other.
Kitbashing is often done by hobbyists to create a model of a subject, real or imaginary, for which there currently isn't a suitable commercially available kit.
While kitbashing is common among Sci-Fi modelers, rearranging components from two-dimensional mediums(such as schematics of a starship) is generally looked down upon as showing a lack of creativity and effort.

So I'll start off with what kitbashing is, then explain how it can be useful as part of (but not the entirety of) a life philosophy.
Kitbashing started with model enthusiasts, who were eager to create models of things not already commercially available.
Thus, kitbashing is the art of taking elements of what's readily available and making something of your own from it.

Kitbashes are even more in-depth than custom jobs, often requiring a great deal of chopping, sculpting, and swapping before you get to the final product.
Your kitbashes deserve no less than their very own work space; you can't work on a project effectively if you have to move it every time the family chihuahua races through the living room or Uncle Bob wants the pool table back.
(Kitbashes like to hang out with unaltered action figures, too--they're fond of blending in.) You might need to create artificial support if your project has a poor center of balance; a figure stand is probably the easiest solution, although there are other, more creative ways to give a topheavy creation more support.
