In its more than 50 years, Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex (The Aud) has been a cornerstone of the community.The history of The Aud tells a story of a building that was initially conceived with a vision to the future - a vision that has been met and surpassed.
Kitchener's first auditorium was located at Charles and Queen Streets and was supplied with ice and refrigeration from the nearby Silverwood Dairies.
The new addition opened on January 9, 1988.The facility was renamed the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex to reflect the larger building and the original intent of constructing a war memorial.

On the concourse walls behind one end zone of the main rink are team photos of the Kitchener Rangers, the resident OHA Junior "A" team that has had a lot of success over the years, including a Memorial Cup championship last season.
The Rangers at one time were owned by the New York Rangers, but the NHL club sold the junior team to the city of Kitchener for $1, and now the city and the junior Rangers fund all the youth teams' sweaters and bags.
