		In computing, Kivio is a free diagramming software that is part of KOffice, an integrated office suite for the KDE Desktop Environment.
		Kivio is a flowcharting and diagramming application for the KOffice application suite, and has an user interface that is similar to Microsoft Visio.
		It is fully integrated into KOffice and can for example be embedded into KWord.

		The Kivio format is gzipped XML, but with binary junk at the front.
		The stencils (shapes) that are used in the file are stored in it (a neat feature, but should be optional for Dia).
		The Kivio exporter would be able to make a stencil directly, while a less intelligent exporter (like XFig) would at least be able to group them together.

		Shawn indicated the kivio model of a GPL program and selling add ons (stencils) was a trial.
		It is perfectly legal for the copyright holder to change the license on something he has written.
		So if Shawn and theKompany.com wrote or own the copyright on all the parts (by getting the authors to sign away copyright to them), then they are perfectly entitled to convert the license from GPL to whatever they want.

		Wednesday, theKompany.com, a Linux software firm, announced they have handed the source code to Kivio, their flowcharting tool, over to the KDE project, and that the GPL'd program is now available in the KDE CVS tree.
		Since then, interest in the software has increased, especially where some specific components such as a color selection widget were concerned, making its addition to the KDE codebase more attractive.
		As reported previously, Kivio itself will not be a revenue source as much as the stencils used to customize the program, which the Kompany plans to sell for varying amounts, possibly as little as $5 for simpler ones.

		Well that might take quite a while as currently I'm the only person working on kivio and just making things work as expected takes all my time at the moment.
		This stopped me from working with kivio, cause I didn't found a way to get my sheet out of that program.
		Personally, i think kivio will become much nicer when you implement some magic shapes like visio, currently, im sad to say visio is the only microsoft product I like and will use, and it would be nice to see kivio replace that.

		Sólo comentar que dia es muy superior a Xfig y Kivio y la afirmación de que Kivio es mejor para KDE y Dia para GNOME es una tontería.
		Kivio ofrece un acabado visual mucho más atractivo, con una botonera que "vende más".
