Sadly, when KIX got the opportunity to open for Poison at L.A.'s Country Club, their worse fears materialized as they stood in stunned silence watching a younger, better looking, musically challenged Poison from the side of the stage.
Weathered but not to be counted out, KIX returned to the studio with hard rock veteran Tom Werman to record what would become their one and only breakthrough record.
By the time KIX Live was released, founding member and guitarist Brain Forsythe had quit the band returning to the fold in 1994 in time to record Show Business, the band's ill-fated debut on CMC.

For its entire existence, the band was a mainstay at the famous Hammerjacks Concert Hall and Nightclub, a rock-and-roll night club and one of the largest and most popular indoor bar venues on the east coast.
The band was founded in 1978 in Hagerstown, Md. as The Shooze, then changed its name to The Generators before eventually settling on Kix.
"KIX Are for Kids" creatively merged the name of the band with two popular cereals of the 1960s and 1970s, KIX (that featured an atomic bomb commercial) and the Trix Rabbit (i.e., "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!").

Kix are one of those AC/DC meets Aerosmith pop metal bands that dominated the airwaves of the late 80's/early 90's.
The band was formed in Hagerstown, Maryland, USA and were known as the Shooze and Generators before solidifying the line-up and becoming Kix in the very late 70's.
By 1995, any bands that survived from the "hair metal" era were retreating to smaller, independent labels and were either modifying their sound to follow the trends, which at the time was grunge, or were sticking to their guns despite the trends.

The band was truly unique in that early in their career they ran adds in major rock publications such as Circus and Hit Parade to expose themselves to the masses.
Kix experience success at the highest level in 1988 when they had their first major hit “Don’t Close Your Eyes” from their platinum selling “Blow My Fuse” release.
There were some great bands from my era, but when the whole genre got flushed and totally fl balled from the business, I don’t think that it’s considered cool to go back and re-establish those bands.

Donnie was a control freak, and everything that that band did, had to go by him, so there was a lot of pressure involved in working with him.
KIX was around before there was "Hair Metal," or Glam Metal." We were actually around in the late 70's, and we got lumped in with that whole "Hair Band" genre.
Kids are starting to understand the talent level from those bands in the 70's and 80's, and they are blowing away what some of these newer bands are doing.
