		The Kladruby Monastery was established as a nine Benedictine Monastery in Czech Kingdom by Prince Vladislav I who was buried in its church after his death in 1125.
		Upon the death of Kladruby monastery’s Abbot Racek in 1393, however, the opponents managed to thwart the King’s intentions by promptly electing a new abbot, with the election immediately approved by the Archbishop’s Vicar, John of Pomuk.
		In 1825, Kladruby Monastery (along with the surrounding lands and 23 villages) was bought by Field Marshal Prince Alfred Windischgrätz at 275 500 guldens.

		Pepoli's bloodlines are still bred at the Kladruby Stud, but the herd of fl horses sired by Sacromoso and Nepoleone was destroyed in the 1930s, after many of the animals were sold for meat.

		The object in breeding at Kladruby was to preserve the havier, carosier type of horse, while in Lipica was added to the Spanish-Italian horses more of the Arabian blood to make them more suitable for riding as well as a lighter carriage.
		From Kladruby to Lipica were often sent mares that came out of Kladrubian female stock by Arabians stallions and for the Kladrubian frame were too slim and too light.
		In the stallion stable of Kladruby stood usually one Lipizzaner with whom were mainly bred the rougher types of mares for the production of tough/hard “figural” horses used for pulling the postal wagons; the female crossbreds were not usually added to the Kladrubian herd, but were sent to Lipica instead.
