Fallert Hatchery began operation in 1895 and is one of the oldest hatcheries in the Columbia River Basin.
The hatchery is located in a remote area on the Klickitat River at river mile 42, near the town of Glenwood, Washington.

The Clatskanie River is impacted by occasional high levels of fecal coliform and total solids during periods of dry weather and low flows, indicating the presence of untreated animal or human waste.
In September, flow is very low in the Klaskanine River and it is likely that saltwater is intruding the river as far up as the convergence of the North and South Forks of the Klaskanine River.
It is limited by occasional increases in nitrogen levels and biochemical oxygen demand during the wet season, indicative of the introduction of organic material to the river.

The Youngs River is a tributary of the Columbia River, approximately 20 mi (32 km) long, in northwest Oregon in the United States.
It flows generally northwest, passing over Youngs River Falls, discovered by a hunting party of the Lewis and Clark Expedition from nearby Fort Clatsop.
It receives the Klaskanine River from the east approximately 5 mi (8 km) south of Astoria.

The agreement includes implementation of the minimum stream flow in the main stem of the Umatilla River resulting from the exercise by the City of Pendleton of its surface water right of the north fork of the Umatilla River under this section.

The San Lorenzo River was stocked with 577,440 coho salmon from 1915-1941, and an unknown number from 1957 to 1993 (ibid).
Thus it is not surprising that Bryant (1994) concluded from genetic allozyme analysis, life history characteristics, and behavior that the Waddell and Scott Creek coho salmon populations were not distinct from coho salmon populations from the north.
He evaluated fish screens and river currents at a pulp mill in Longview, Washington and was the senior fisheries scientist on the Electric Power Research Institute project which evaluated downstream juvenile migrant fish protection technologies for hydroelectric projects.

Klaskanine Hatchery - Coho and Winters Steelhead Results The Klaskanine facility includes 6 series ponds, 16 concrete raceways, 1 rearing pond, and incubation facilities.
In the area of program objectives, the hatchery did not have a goal for green-egg to eyed-egg, eyed-egg to fry and smolt-to-adult survival and was not meeting its adult return goal.
Because of the return distribution and data processing delays, the complete adult contribution for a given broodyear may not be available until 4 to 5 years after the fish have been released from the hatchery.

Like the Klaskanine River in the North Coast basin, this produces high concentrations of total solids and nutrients while depressing dissolved oxygen concentrations.
Due to the distance from the river mouth, these conditions do not occur as frequently at the Siuslaw River in Mapleton as they do at the Klaskanine River site.

The Klaskanine River is a tributary of the Youngs River, approximately 16 mi (26 km) long, in northwest Oregon in the United States.
It drains a small section of the Coast Range in the extreme northwest corner of the state in the watershed of the nearby Columbia River.

The South Fork Klaskanine Hatchery was built in 1980 for the Clatsop Economic Development Council’s (CEDC) Net Pen program.
As part of the hatchery, a water diversion dam was installed spanning the width of the river.

And on the Klaskanine River, near the spot where it meets Youngs River, conservation programs are turning a field into a wetland marsh.
The river will bring in sediments and help sustain a native plant community, and the channels will hopefully provide habitat and food for juvenile salmon bulking up before their trip to the Pacific Ocean.
