Klaus Voormann (born April 29, 1942) is a German artist, musician, and record producer who was associated with the early days of The Beatles in Hamburg and later designed the cover of their album Revolver.
Voormann (pronounced "foreman") was born and grew up in Berlin where he was one of six brothers.
Klaus Voormann faded out of the history of that rock group (which became The Beatles, with Sutcliffe gone and a new drummer).

Voormann had some musical training, in classical guitar, which was enough to draw him into the city's music scene, which was dominated by the Liverpool bands playing there.
Voormann stayed with the band for nearly three years and played on such hits as "Ha Ha Said the Clown" and "The Mighty Quinn," the latter a number one British hit and a Top Ten single in America in early 1968.
Voormann was immediately ensconced as a member of the Plastic Ono Band, often comprising a rhythm section with Ringo Starr [+] on Lennon's records.

On 20 March a story by Don Short in the Daily Mirror suggested that Klaus was to be the replacement for Paul while Disc (27 March 1971) saw Voormann less as McCartney's successor than a natural replacement for Stuart Sutcliffe, the original Beatle-bassist who died in 1962.
Klaus is married to actress Christine Hargreaves of "Coronation Street" fame and lives in Hampstead.
Another rumour says that Klaus was supposed to replace Sutcliffe already in 1961, but that Brian Epstein was against it because he thought it would not be very good for a British beat band to have a German bass player.

During the summer of 2000, we were proud to exhibit the artwork of Klaus Voormann.
After befriending the band, and watching their rise to fame Klaus was influenced by them to go into music himself.
During the sixties he played with a trio called Paddy, Klaus and Gibson who were briefly signed to the Brian Epstein stable of artists, before joining Manfred Mann for the latter half of the decade.

They discussed, among other things, Klaus' participation in The Concert for Bangla Desh, working with George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan, his long friendship with The Beatles, playing with John Lennon, Yoko Ono - and his new book Four Track Stories.
