Kling was selected in 1967 to take over the reins at KSJR, a radio station that Saint John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota had decided to spin off.
Kling is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fitzgerald Theater in St Paul.
Kling holds a BA in Economics from St John’s University and an MA from the Graduate School of Communication at Boston University.

The fingerings and hand positions given by Kling generally follow standard practices; one interesting exception for the valved horn is that written A-flat in the top two octaves of the horn's range is fingered with the first valve alone (with the fingering using the second and third valves given as an alternate).
Kling later wrote a book on orchestration (published in 1882 [this is an update of the date printed in the published version of this article]), Modern Instrumentation and Orchestration, which explained some of his ideas on crooks in greater depth.

Vincent Kling, who would head the largest architectural practice in the Philadelphia region in the 1960s and 1970s and shape much of downtown Philadelphia in the post-World War II era, was born and raised in East Orange, NJ.
Kling enlisted in the U.S. Navy after the attack at Pearl Harbor, and served as a pilot in the Atlantic fleet naval air force until the close of the war.

Dr. Kling was a visiting Professor at the Copenhagen School of Business and Economics and at the Solvay School of Business at the University of Brussels, as well as a Research Fellow at Harvard University's Program on Information Resources Policy and a Visiting Researcher at the Gessellschaft für Mathematik und Datenverarbeitung in Bonn, Germany.
Kling is survived by his wife, Professor Mitzi Lewison of Bloomington, Indiana and his sister Ellasara Kling of New York City.
