Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 5.1 - Review - MegaGames hardware
Klipsch/ is a brand name which has become familiar to U.S. audiophiles through the creation of, the now classic, Klipschorn product.
Although discussing the finer points of the debate on the use of horn-loaded speakers is not part of this review we have to mention that Klipsch is an advocate of the use of horns for higher efficiency and reduced total harmonic distortion.
Klipsch already had a top product with their ProMedia 5.1 speakers and users and critics had already expressed their views on them so the decision to improve on what was a highly praised product was risky.

Klipsch RF-5 Loudspeakers reviewed on AudioRevolution.com
Klipsch's design philosophy is to minimize distortion by maximizing sensitivity, and their horn design has been the hallmark of their loudspeakers since the 1940’s.
The horn-driven speaker is a basically a flute-shaped rectangular tube where, in the case of the RF-5, it is coupled to a one-inch titanium dome compression tweeter.
As the sound exits the larger portion of the horn, the rectangular shape is designed to control dispersion, 90 degrees in the vertical, and 60 degrees in the horizontal, which is said to minimize side wall interaction, one of the most offending situations that a speaker owner may confront.

Klipsch's new THX Ultra2 speaker system boldly goes where poseur speakers fear to tread.
OK, I know that a lot of you must be thinking, "Great, but why didn't Klipsch build the amp into the sub?" Well, it turns out that separating the amp from the sub offers significant advantages for the install market, where a powered sub's level, phase, or crossover controls may be inaccessible to the user.
Klipsch's designers imagine that most THX Ultra2 buyers will opt for the 7.1-channel configuration; however, due to space limitations, I sampled a 5.1 variant that foregoes the twin rear KL-525-THXs.
