| | Interview with Edward Knighton, Ottakar: TWST |
 | | Knighton: James Heneage founded Ottakar's with our current Chairman, Philip Dunne, in 1987 as a specialist bookseller, perceiving that as Waterstone's had started in 1982 in larger towns and cities in the UK, there was an opportunity for a competitor to come along in secondary and tertiary provincial towns. |
 | | Knighton: I would say entertainment, as we better entertain customers within our stores, with things like coffee, the mixture of products, events, and I would also say our staff, which may be a bit of a cliché, but we really do believe we have the best staff in the book trade. |
 | | Knighton: Well we think we have identified a further 180 towns in the UK where we could yet open a store, although we won't get all of those; other competitors are expanding too of course, albeit at a slower rate than us. |
