Knowsley is a metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England.
The village of Knowsley (one of those in the Whiston RD) pre-dates the neighbouring city of Liverpool by hundreds of years — it was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, whereby it was known as Chenulveslei.
There are a few notable entries in Knowsley's history — Henry VII visited in 1495; Shakespeare is said to have performed in a play held in Knowsley in 1589 and Capability Brown is responsible for some of the fine landscaping of Knowsley in the 1700s.

Knowsley Council have made legal history in as much as they are the first UK Council to attempt to close down a local news website.
Knowsley Council may prefer to live in a fantasy world where they believe most people here actually respect them - in truth - most of us are fuming at the FAT CAT wages and the deals and land sales and various appointments and goings on.
Knowsley Council should be thanking myself and the excellent contributors to Kirkby Times for at least bringing some balance to the propaganda we endure with the Council run 'local' papers and the Councils website.

Knowsley Council are continuing to issue Council tax demands and Court summonses to tenants demanding imagined amounts of money supposedly owed.
Kirkby Times can report that even despite one tenant being told the Council had made yet another co** up on their computer systems, the tenant was later treated to a letter explaining that he now owed £40.70 Court Costs as a 'liability order was issued' because of 'non payment of Council Tax'.
This is insanity - the amount of paper used by Knowsley Council could be cut back by tons if they actually had some common sense at the top - but that's the trouble - the people running Knowsley Council, the bosses and bigwigs, as this website shows, are getting money for nothing.
