Kochi Prefecture comprises the southwestern part of the island of Shikoku, facing the Pacific Ocean.
On October 1, 2004 the village of Hongawa from Tosa District and the village of Gohoku from Agawa District merged with the old town of Ino (also from Agawa District) to form the new town of Ino in Agawa District.
On February 1, 2005 the villages of Hayama and Higashitsuno from Takaoka District merged to form the new town of Tsuno.

Yasuhara and another Mode Avance executive, as well as former and current prefectural officials, have been arrested on breach of trust charges in connection with the scandal in which former Vice Gov. Takashi Yamamoto allegedly extended loans worth about 1.2 billion yen in public money to the association despite high risks.
Mode Avance, based in Nankoku in Kochi Prefecture, reportedly has more than 3 billion yen in liabilities, including 2.6 billion yen in debts to the prefecture.

In Kochi prefecture, the main body of shakuhachi, shamisen, and koto players are members of the Kochi Sankyoku Kyokai (the prefectural organization of koto, shamisen, and shakuhachi players) which has a little over a hundred members, perhaps a little more than a third of whom are shakuhachi players.
There are several koto players in Kochi who have large numbers of students and make a living through teaching koto and shamisen, but there are no professional shakuhachi players currently residing in the prefecture.
At one of the college clubs, that of Kochi University, women students predominate, though the number of student players of shakuhachi in the prefecture is probably less than twenty.

The Kochi Museum of Art held an exhibition of his works in 2001, and since then the relationship between Ishimoto and the museum has deepened.
Besides the Kochi Museum, major and substantial holdings of Ishimoto's works are in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Canadian Centre for Architecture, although his photographs are in the collection of many other institutions.

The Japanese government and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party are exerting heavy pressure on this proposal, claiming, "This is the violation of the state right of diplomacy." The headquarters of the LDP issued directives to the Kochi Assembly's LDP members, who hold about a half of the seats, not to vote for the revised ordinance.

The data have been collected at the Fishery Experiment Station through radio circuit, and made into the data base as the EXCEL file using a personal computer.
