Mysore District is bounded by Mandya district to the northeast, Chamrajnagar district to the southeast, Kerala state to the south, Kodagu district to the west, and Hassan district to the north.
COORG (an anglicized corruption of Kodagu, said to be derived from the Kanarese Kudu, " steep," "hilly"), a province of India, administered by a commissioner, subordinate to the governorgeneral through the resident of Mysore, who is officially also chief commissioner of Coorg.

MADIKERI: Office-bearers of the Kodagu District Irrigation Pumpset Owners' Association on Tuesday welcomed the revised tariff for irrigation pumpsets in Kodagu, which places coffee growers in the LT 4-C category of consumers.
The association represented Kodagu farmers in two public meetings on August 12 and September 12 in Mangalore convened to discuss the issue.
Pumpset owners in Kodagu had earlier demanded that they be placed in the LT 4-A category on a par with arecanut and coconut growers, who enjoy good concessions.
