Kodama (Shinkansen) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kodama shinkansen are the "slowest" of the train services running on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen.
The Kodama trains are used primarily for stop-offs between major cities and small cities such as Tokyo to Atami [although other shinkansen services may also access these cities].
The trains following Kodama routes are historically the slower and older ones, including the original 0 Series trains.

 Shinkansen - Simple English Wikipedia
Shinkansen trains now run regularly at speeds of up to 300 km/h (185 mph), putting them among the fastest trains running in the world, along with the French TGV and German ICE trains.
The Shinkansen are run by the many companies of Japan Railway (which in the past was called Japanese National Railways, but now is one group of private companies).
In contrast to the older lines, Shinkansen lines are standard gauge, and use tunnels and viaducts to go through and over obstacles, rather than around them.

math lessons - 0 Series Shinkansen
The 0 Series Shinkansen were the first trainsets built to run on Japan's new high speed rail network, and are therefore still the image of the Shinkansen in the minds of most non-Japanese because of all the publicity they received when the first Shinkansen line began operation in 1964.
Existence as a Shinkansen train is tough; though most rail equipment has a service life of thirty or more years, Shinkansen sets are tired after fifteen, and they are generally removed from service after that point.
Unlike previous Japanese trains, the Tokaido Shinkansen and all subsequent Shinkansen were standard gauge (4'8½", 1,435 mm between the rails).

100 Series Shinkansen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Now being taken off first line service, 100 series sets are being reformed into smaller 4 and 6 car sets for the slower Kodama services in the Sanyo Sinkansen line, to replace the last 0 series trains.
The 100 Series Shinkansen were the second generation Shinkansen design, produced between 1984 and 1991 for the Tokaido Shinkansen and Sanyo Shinkansen lines; the earliest units have now been withdrawn from service, and the series has been retired from the Tokaido Shinkansen line in September 2003.

Shinkansen is famous for its high speed; actually it is not only fast, but very convenient and efficient.
Its scenery may be rather dull because everytime Shinkansen line comes to mountainous areas or even small hills, it goes straight into a long long tunnel to avoid curving, which is the obstacle to its high speed.
