	Koekelberg (Municipality, Region of Brussels-Capital, Belgium)
		The municipality of Koekelberg (17,703 inhabitants on 31 December 2004; 114 hectares, therefore one of the most crowded Belgian municipalities)) is one of the 19 municipalities forming the region of Brussels-Capital.
		The upper part of Koekelberg, a plateau dominating Brussels, was urbanized later and attracted the upper classs; mansions, family houses and apartment buildings were built in a much less crowded environment than in the lower city.
		Koekelberg is mostly known for its basilica, the fifth biggest church in the world (length, 141 m; width, 107 m; height, 100 m), surrounded by Parc Elisabeth.

		For the weekend of the 60th Anniversary of VE Day, a group from 207 Sqn RAF Association were invited to Meeuwen-Gruitrode in the Province of Limburg, Belgium, for the dedication of a memorial to the Corless crew of 207 Sqn RAF (EM-W ME683) all killed on the Wesseling Raid of 21/22 June 1944.
		Many of the network's helpers died and among those who survived others suffered for the rest of their lives in mind and body from the cruelty suffered whilst imprisoned.
		A memorial plaque of the RAF placed under a stained glass window in the Basilica of Koekelberg bears the Comète sign to commemorate the help given to Allied airmen.

		Since 1 June 1999 the municipalities of Koekelberg and Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cadiz) have seen their bond strengthened after the signing of the twinning agreement.
		Proof of the friendship between the parties was the entry of candidates from Sanlúcar in the “Eurocontacts ‘98” competition for design and photography, organised since 1996 by the Mayor and Aldermen of Koekelberg.
		Today the ties uniting Sanlúcar de Barrameda and Koekelberg are being further extended thanks to Mr Juan Rodriguez Romero, current Mayor of Sanlúcar (year 2000) and Mr Jean-Pierre De Keyn, Koekelberg’s Alderman for Europe.
