Sheldrickite is intimately associated with shortite, the crystals being found in a cavity between shortite crystals and as flakes in thin seams between crystals of shortite.
Other associated species include pectolite, microcline, polylithionite, arfvedsonite, aegirine, calcite, fluorite, and minor molybdenite, leucosphenite, thenardite, thermonatrite, sphalerite, galena, schairerite and kogarkoite.
The mineral assemblage is thought to be a late-stage hydrothermal infilling.

On May 17, 1936, Lia Nikolayevna Kogarko, a academician of Russian Academy of Science and a specialist in magmatism, ore deposition, and geochemistry, was born.
Mineral kogarkoite discovered in Colorado, USA, was named in her honor.
On May 18 Anatoly Nikolaevich Korobov was born, a pilot, designer, artist, lapidary, collector, screenplay author for animated films, etc. For many years he heads the Moscow friends of Mineralogy Club, being an organizer and participant of the Wonder in Stone annual exhibition for three decades.

The specimens of so-called catalygenic minerals (the term proposed by A.P. Khomyakov) from author’s and Museum collections were demonstrated.
Alexander P. Khomyakov presented unique specimen of kogarkoite, largest segregation (nearly 3 cm in size) of this rare mineral in the rock (agpaitic pegmatite) from Mt. Alluaiv, to Dr. Margarita I. Novgorodova, director of the Fersman Mineralogical Museum.
Academician Liya N. Kogarko, in whose honor the mineral was named, told the interesting story about its discovery.
