Modern Japan - Famous Japanese - Koizumi Kyoko
Koizumi Kyoko is one of the few idols from the early '80s to have survived with her image and popular appeal intact.
Popularly known as Kyon-kyon, Koizumi made her breakthrough on the TV audition show Staa Tanjou (A Star is Born) in 1981 and her debut followed the next year.
Both she and Johnny's Jimusho star Kamenashi Kazuya of the group KAT-TUN, whose career was just hitting overdrive, refused to comment on the widespread media speculation.

Koizumi defies critics to visit war shrine - Asia - Pacific - International Herald Tribune
The visit was Koizumi's fifth to Yasukuni Shrine since becoming prime minister in April 2001, and came despite a recent court decision that ruled the visits violate Japan's constitutional division of religion and the state.
Koizumi defended his visit, however, saying that he went to Yasukuni to express Japan's resolve not to go to war again.
Koizumi suggests the visits are personal, but as in past occasions, he went to Yasukuni on Monday in an official car, accompanied by his aides.

 LoveAsianFilm.com - Survive Style 5+ (JAPAN 2004)
The next thread is that of an advertisement producer, Yoko, played by Kyoko Koizumi, whose bizarre imagined adverts are sprinkled throughout the film, signalled by her rapid blinking and followed by her distinctive laugh.
The most memorable advert involves a talking head with two faces, one on the bottom, one on the top, that are shown arguing over whether to have rice or bread in a restaurant.
This new film maker brings his own unique vision and clearness of purpose to construct a genuine original, that whilst it is not for everybody, will inevitably find a classic status.

Asian Cinema Drifter - Kaze Hana Movie Review and Image Gallery   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Kyoko Koizumi plays Yuriko, a woman in her thirties living an empty life as a “hostess” in a bar that is proud to offer its customers other services as well.
The acting on Koizumi’s part is a perfect compliment to create that chemistry between the two characters that just sort of creeps up on the viewer discreetly.
Their combined charisma is charmingly innocent as they grow from nearly distant strangers to close friends with a relationship filled with anything between jealousy and mutual concern.

It'll just be a one-way exercise in masturbation," says Yoko (Koizumi), a frustrated ad exec whose outlandish efforts punctuate the livid pop cultural landscape of this bizarre fl comedy.
It's a comment that has particular relevance here, not just because director Gen Sekiguchi's background in commercials is evident in the visual hyperbole of every sumptuous, over-designed frame, but because this is cinema that puts lysergic spectacle ahead of story, burlesque brilliance before coherence, and sensation over sense.
